Ten Terrible Things About Tom Tiffany

‘Tom Tiffany Can Run for Governor, But He Can’t Hide From His Record’

MADISON, Wis. — Longtime right-wing politician, current U.S. Representative, and now Wisconsin gubernatorial wanna-be Tom Tiffany has said a lot of unseemly things and cast many bad votes over the years.

A Better Wisconsin Together Deputy Director Mike Browne commented, “Tom Tiffany can run for Governor, but he can’t hide from his record. Time and again he’s taken terrible votes and supported terrible policies that do harm to working people, families and our communities here in Wisconsin.”

The following are just ten of the terrible things about Tom Tiffany’s record:

  • Tiffany touts Trump tariffs that trigger higher costs: Donald Trump’s tariff taxes are raising costs for working people on school supplies, cars, appliances, food, and even beer. What did Tom Tiffany have to say about it? In a radio appearance Tiffany said of Trump’s tariffs, “…all these things are really good things.”

  • Tiffany didn’t pay any state taxes for years: Tom Tiffany didn’t pay any state income taxes in 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009 or 2010, according to state records. But he did pay in 2011 — the year in which he received $49,943 in state taxpayer funded legislative salary, comprehensive health insurance and pension benefits and over $9,500 in tax-free payments for attending work in Madison.

  • Tiffany voted to take away freedoms in the workplace: Tom Tiffany apparently doesn’t like workers being able to come together to have a say in their workplaces or to negotiate for better wages and benefits. As a state legislator, Tiffany voted to strip workplace freedoms from both public and private sector workers and undermine their ability to choose to join or form a union.
