In anticipation of tonight’s debate, here are four fast facts that Lazar can’t hide from

MADISON, Wis. — Despite her best efforts to mislead Wisconsinites about her far-right partisanship, no amount of political spin from Judge Maria Lazar in tonight’s Wisconsin Supreme Court debate can hide the fact she would bring an unpopular and radical right-wing agenda to our state’s highest court.

“No matter how much Judge Lazar rambles and deflects tonight, she can’t spin away the facts or hide from her dangerous and out of touch record on real issues that Wisconsinites are facing,” said A Better Wisconsin Together Communications Director Lucy Ripp.

In anticipation of tonight’s debate, here are four fast facts that Lazar can’t hide from:

  1. Lazar is anti-abortion. In her own words, Lazar described the overturning of Roe v. Wade, which left Wisconsinites without safe or legal abortion care for months, as “very wise.” Lazar’s anti-abortion record earned her an endorsement from the radical anti-abortion group Pro-Life Wisconsin, whose agenda includes banning abortion with no exceptions.
  2. Lazar consistently rules in favor of right-wing interests, not Wisconsinites. Lazar has sided with corporate polluters who are filling our waterways with toxic chemicals, ruled to release sensitive voter data to conspiracy theorists and make it harder for voters with disabilities to cast their ballot, and recently dodged questions about and refused to denounce Donald Trump’s effort to overturn his 2020 election loss in Wisconsin.
  3. Lazar’s endorsements speak volumes. Her campaign is endorsed by all six of Wisconsin’s MAGA Republicans in Congress. When asked if she’s seeking an endorsement from Trump, Lazar said she would, “welcome the discussion.” Lazar has also previously been endorsed by Jim Troupis, Trump’s former campaign attorney in Wisconsin who is now facing felony charges for trying to help Trump overturn the 2020 election.
  4. Lazar associates with the most fringe right-wing groups in Wisconsin. Lazar has spent most of her recent campaign traveling around the state not to talk with everyday Wisconsinites but to appear at different GOP Headquarters and with groups like the Wisconsin Conservative Coalition, Moms for Liberty, and 5Riders. These groups are all right-wing organizations pushing an anti-LGBTQbook-banning, and anti-abortion agenda across the state.
