MADISON, Wis. — Amid massive discontent with MAGA policies driving up costs, cratering poll numbers for Donald Trump, massive Spring electoral losses, state Senate and Assembly leadership abandoning their posts instead of facing the the voters, public disagreements with their presumptive gubernatorial nominee Tom Tiffany, attempted leadership coups, and the imposition of mandatory non-disclosure agreements on party officers, Wisconsin Republicans will gather for their annual party convention this weekend.

Adding to the GOP’s dysfunction and display of detachment from reality, GOP delegates are scheduled to hear from keynote speaker Linda McMahon, a MAGA billionaire who, after spending millions to help elect Donald Trump, was put in charge of dismantling the Department of Education.

“The irony is not lost on the people of Wisconsin that our Republican lawmakers are likely reading headlines about how out-of-touch their agenda is as they sit at a resort and schmooze with MAGA billionaires like Linda McMahon,” said Mike Browne, deputy director at A Better Wisconsin Together. “Meanwhile, Wisconsin families are crunching numbers to try and cover gas and groceries for the week ahead.”

The Republican convening comes on the heels of new polling in key state legislative districts that revealed that GOP state lawmakers are deeply unpopular among voters across the Badger State, due largely to their rubberstamp of the MAGA agenda.

“Despite their clear failures, Republican elected officials and leaders have given no indication in advance of their convention that they will disavow the disastrous MAGA agenda to instead focus on issues to help Wisconsinites,” said Browne.

As in years past, it seems the GOP convention is poised to instead consider extreme party platform planks to attack our rights and freedoms.
