MADISON, Wis. – GOP Congressman Tom Tiffany, whose campaign for Wisconsin governor is being bank-rolled by billionaires, is doubling down on his vow to protect the ultra-rich from having to pay their share of taxes.
After admitting in a radio interview this summer that he opposes taxing billionaires, Congressman Tiffany has now signed a pledge with Americans For Tax Reform, a far-right organization that advocates against taxing the ultra-rich at a time when the average Wisconsinite is working harder than ever yet still being priced out of everything from gas and groceries to housing and healthcare.
“Sadly, this is far from the first time Congressman Tiffany has thrown everyday Wisconsinites under the bus in favor of giving the ultra-rich another leg up,” A Better Wisconsin Together said in a statement.
In fact, Congressman Tiffany’s record in office shows a long career of looking out for the wealthiest few at the expense of the hardworking Wisconsinites he’s supposed to be representing.
Last summer, Congressman Tiffany voted to rip healthcare away from seniors and food away from hungry kids so he could fund huge tax giveaways for billionaires. Less than a year later, MAGA billionaire connected cash began pouring into Tiffany’s campaign for Wisconsin governor.
As of early August, in 2026 alone Congressman Tiffany had benefited from more than $10 million in campaign cash from right-wing Illinois billionaires Richard and Elizabeth Uihlein, and Wisconsin’s richest person Diane Hendricks.
Congressman Tiffany also voted to change Wisconsin’s campaign finance laws to allow the ultra-rich and corporations to make unlimited donations to political parties and campaigns, and has a spotty history of paying taxes himself.
Department of Revenue records show Congressman Tiffany paid no personal state income taxes in 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009 or 2010. Additionally, as reported in the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel:
“Tiffany’s Willow Inc., owed and paid no state income taxes for more than a decade through 2016 – then paid just $65 in in 2017, $308 in 2018 and $240 in 2019, the records show.
And his Wisconsin River Cruises Inc., owed and paid no state income taxes between 2007 and 2013, according to the records.”
