MADISON, Wis. — Wisconsinites are spending $3,000 more on everyday goods than we were two years ago and one of the architects of the rising cost crisis, JD Vance, is in the Badger State today to stand with Wisconsinites … but only if they have an extra $35,000 to spare.
During his July 8 visit to Wisconsin, Vance is headlining a ritzy dinner to the tune of: $10,000 per couple to attend, $35,000 for dinner and a photo with Vance, and $100,000 to be on the host committee, according to the event’s website.
A Better Wisconsin Together says Vance’s lavish event shows just how out of touch he is with the average Wisconsinite.
“Thanks to Vance, and Donald Trump’s loyal lackey Tom Tiffany, most Wisconsinites are worried about keeping gas in the car and food in the fridge as costs continue to rise. And their MAGA solution? Collect campaign cash from the wealthy elite while continuing to make life harder for the rest of us,” said A Better Wisconsin Together Deputy Director Mike Browne.
Vance’s visit comes 4 days after the first anniversary of the Big Ugly Bill championed by Vance and Tiffany. The bill cut resources and raised costs on everyday people to fund tax cuts for the ultra-wealthy.
In Wisconsin, the Big Ugly Bill and other MAGA policies have:
- Raised the cost of housing by over $700;
- Forced the average Wisconsin family to pay $378 more in gas;
- Caused a 58% increase in monthly healthcare costs, forcing the average enrollee to pay $178 in 2026 for the same care that only cost $113 in 2025;
- Increased Wisconsinites’ energy costs by nearly $100;
- Left nearly 20,000 Wisconsinites unable to buy groceries or feed their family.
