Whatever the job, we should have the freedom to have our voices heard in our workplaces and join with our colleagues to negotiate safe working conditions, good wages, and benefits.

MADISON, Wis. – Ahead of Workers’ Memorial Day on April 28, A Better Wisconsin Together is standing in solidarity with Wisconsin workers, and continuing the fight to strengthen workers’ rights and safe workplaces for all, by encouraging Wisconsin lawmakers to support legislation that protects workers across the Badger State.

“As we honor and remember those who have lost their lives or fallen ill or injured on the job, it’s a reminder that safety on the job should be a fundamental right, and that we all should be able to go to work each day knowing that we are safe from harm or injury,” said A Better Wisconsin Together Communications Director Lucy Ripp.

To make that right a reality in Wisconsin, we need our elected representatives to fight for workers. That means creating better paying jobs with safe working conditions, and honoring fallen workers by ensuring that safe and healthy workplaces are guaranteed for every Wisconsinite working today.

“Whatever the job, we should have the freedom to have our voices heard in our workplaces and join with our colleagues to negotiate safe working conditions, good wages, and benefits,” Ripp said. “Too often, GOP politicians in Wisconsin are siding with greedy corporations instead of workers. But together, Wisconsinites can demand that working in safe and healthy conditions is a fundamental freedom in our state.”

This Workers’ Memorial Day and beyond, call, tweet, or write your local elected officials to let them know Wisconsinites stand united in the fight for workers’ rights and the freedom to have a safe workplace, no matter the job.

You can reach your state legislators at 1-800-362-9472, or your federal representative at 202-224-3121.
