ICYMI: Hovde Campaign Bankrolled Largely by Californians, Like Himself

Records show that Hovde, who owns a $7 million mansion in Laguna Beach California and lists his occupation as CEO of his out-of-state bank, lent his campaign  $8 million of his own money. Roughly $60,000 was collected from other California based donors.

MADISON, Wis. – According to a recently filed campaign finance report, mega-millionaire Eric Hovde’s Wisconsin campaign is funded largely by out-of-state Californians, like himself.

Records show that Hovde, who owns a $7 million mansion in Laguna Beach California and lists his occupation as CEO of his out-of-state bank, lent his campaign  $8 million of his own money. Roughly $60,000 was collected from other California based donors.

It also appears that Hovde’s campaign is keeping it in the family, with news outlets recently reporting that Hovde’s brother is running and bankrolling a Super PAC spending to boost his political campaign to the tune of $1 million.

“Eric Hovde has shown himself shockingly out-of-touch with Wisconsin values from the get go. After never even saying the word ‘Wisconsin’ in his campaign launch ad it’s only gotten worse, like saying seniors in nursing homes shouldn’t be allowed to vote and supporting dangerous abortion bans,” said Mike Browne, deputy director of A Better Wisconsin Together. “With a fundraising report showing he’s raised nearly 90% of his money from California, it seems we now have our explanation.”

Call Eric Hovde today at 714-730-4444 and remind him that we deserve leaders who prioritize average Wisconsinites, not wealthy California donors.
