Ahead of Trump’s Wisconsin Visit, A Better Wisconsin Together Calls Attention to MAGA Faction’s Record of Opposing Our Freedoms
MADISON, Wis. — As MAGA leader Donald Trump uses an off-day from his criminal trial to visit Wisconsin today, A Better Wisconsin Together is calling attention to just how out of touch he is with the issues that matter to Wisconsinites.
“Donald Trump and his MAGA agenda have no place here in Wisconsin, where we value freedoms like having voters – not politicians – decide the outcomes of our elections, and making our own reproductive healthcare choices, free from political interference,” said A Better Wisconsin Together Communications Director Lucy Ripp.
On January 6, 2021 Trump incited a violent attack on our nation’s Capitol, and on our freedoms, as he sought to throw out millions of Wisconsinites’ votes in the 2020 presidential election that he overwhelmingly lost.
In 2024, the MAGA faction is again set to undermine Wisconsinites’ freedom, with tactics like a recently announced plan to target polling places in areas that tend to favor Democrats with “poll watchers”. The scheme is to be overseen by Christina Bobb, a MAGA attorney recently indicted for her role in the January 6 fake elector plot. Bobb is ironically running legal point on “election integrity” for the Republican National Convention taking place in Milwaukee this summer.
“Wisconsinites value our freedom, turning out in record numbers to make our voices heard in elections. And we support our local clerks and our friends and neighbors who work the polls to run free and fair elections,” Ripp said.
In addition to attacking our freedom to vote, Trump already has plans in place to take away Wisconsinites’ freedom to access abortion care.
“An overwhelming majority of Wisconsinites agree that abortion should be legal, safe, and accessible for all – and that politicians have no business mandating decisions that ought to be made between a patient and their doctor,” said Ripp. “Yet, Donald Trump continues to brag about his central role in the overturning of Roe v. Wade, and is now saying he wants to put state politicians in charge of our personal decisions on abortion.”
In Wisconsin, we know firsthand the danger that can come from putting GOP state lawmakers in charge of making decisions about our access to reproductive health care.
“Wisconsinites have united together to reject Trump and his MAGA allies’ agenda in the past, and we will do it again,” Ripp concluded.
