MADISON, Wis. – In honor of Indigenous Peoples’ Day, A Better Wisconsin Together released the following statement and call to action for Wisconsin lawmakers:

“A Better Wisconsin Together stands firmly in the fight for Native sovereignty, self-determination, equality, justice, and the for the safety of all Indigenous people – especially the Indigenous women and two-spirit people who face violence and oppression at an unacceptably disproportionate rate across the Badger State.

“In 2025, Wisconsin’s Indigenous communities continue to face systemic injustice and are often left behind by our Republican-controlled state and federal governments. While it’s impossible to undo the violent and unjust history that still lingers today, A Better Wisconsin Together is committed to building a fair and just state where all Indigenous peoples can live in freedom, on their own terms – and we demand all elected officials in the Badger State commit to doing the same.”

Today and every day, we encourage all of Wisconsin’s elected officials commit to:

  • Investing in Native health, education, and infrastructure;
  • Fighting on behalf of missing and murdered Indigenous women, which has now become a public health crisis;
  • Listening to and amplifying Indigenous voices;
  • And more.
