ICYMI: Poll Shows Wisconsinites Want Action on Clean Water, but State Republicans Refuse to Act

MADISON, Wis. — A Better Wisconsin Together is calling attention to results from the most recent Marquette Law School poll that show an overwhelming majority of Wisconsin voters are, ‘very or somewhat concerned about PFAS chemicals contaminating their water supply.’

“These poll results expose a concerning trend between the issues that Wisconsinites want action on and the issues that Republican legislators have time and time again neglected to address,” said Lucy Ripp, communications director at A Better Wisconsin Together.

Twice this year alone, Governor Tony Evers has called on the GOP-controlled Joint Committee on Finance (JFC) to release $125 million in already approved funds to address the presence of PFAS contamination in Wisconsinites’ water – but Republican committee members refused to show up.

“Wisconsin families deserve to trust what comes out of their tap, and to know that our elected leaders – especially those in charge of releasing essential funds – will prioritize issues that the majority of us have demanded action on,” said Ripp. “Yet, state Republicans continue to play petty political games and put their own partisan agenda above the well-being of our local communities.”
