A Better Wisconsin Together Calls on Federal Lawmakers to Pass the Right to Contraception Act
MADISON, Wis. — Following action taken this morning to bring the Right to Contraception Act to the floor of the U.S. Senate in June, A Better Wisconsin Together is calling on Wisconsin’s representatives in Washington D.C. to codify our right to contraception.
“Wisconsinites overwhelmingly agree that the freedom to choose if, when, and how to grow our families is a private decision that politicians have no business making for us,” said A Better Wisconsin Together Communications Director Lucy Ripp. “In our current political climate, where right-wing politicians are relentless in their attacks on our reproductive freedoms, the Right to Contraception Act would help safeguard our private health decisions from political interference.”
In 2022, less than a month after Roe v. Wade was overturned by MAGA Supreme Court justices, 195 Republicans voted against the Right to Contraception Act – including every Wisconsin Republican.
Just last week at a Republican Party of Wisconsin convention, GOP Senator Ron Johnson and mega millionaire California banker Eric Hovde touted their support for near total abortion bans that would put politicians like themselves in charge of deciding how, when, and if Wisconsinites grow their families.
Reports from this week also show MAGA leader Donald Trump saying he’s “looking at” blocking contraception access federally.
“Wisconsinites deserve better,” said Ripp. “It’s time that our elected leaders act on behalf of what’s best for Wisconsin families, not what’s best for their own partisan agendas.”
Call your federal representatives today and demand they join the majority of Wisconsinites in supporting the Right to Contraception Act.
