A Better Wisconsin Together Slams JFC Republicans for Once Again Refusing Clean Water, Healthcare Access for Wisconsin Communities
MADISON, Wis. — A Better Wisconsin Together is calling out state Republicans on the Joint Finance Committee (JFC) for refusing to act today on releasing funds for clean water and hospital access in a special meeting called by Governor Tony Evers.
This is the second time in less than a month that JFC Republicans have failed to release $140 million to fight PFAS contamination in Wisconsinites’ water and to aid Wisconsinites affected by recent hospital closures in local communities.
According to A Better Wisconsin Together Communications Director Lucy Ripp, Wisconsinites deserve better:
“Wisconsin families deserve to trust what comes out of their tap, and to know they can access quality hospital care if they need it. Our elected leaders – especially those in charge of releasing essential funds – have a duty to prioritize the needs of Wisconsinites.
“Yet, state Republicans continue to play petty political games and put their own partisan agenda above the well-being of our local communities. Their refusal to release life-saving funds are being felt deeply in our local communities, and we will continue to hold them accountable for it.”
Republican JFC members holding up essential funds for Wisconsinites include: Sen. Stroebel, Sen. Ballweg, Sen. Wimberger, Sen. Marklein, Sen. Testin, Sen. Felzkowski, Rep. Zimmerman, Rep. Born, Rep. Kurtz, Rep Katsma, Rep. Rodriguez, and Rep. Dallman.
