OP-ED: Biden Successes, Progressive Vision Come Out on Top After Republican Debate

The GOP presidential debate in Milwaukee made one thing clear: while the MAGA presidential hopefuls are busy arguing amongst themselves and vying to one-up each other on the most out-of-touch policy positions, the Biden Administration is delivering real solutions to the issues constituents care about.

The GOP presidential debate in Milwaukee made one thing clear: while the MAGA presidential hopefuls are busy arguing amongst themselves and vying to one-up each other on the most out-of-touch policy positions, the Biden Administration is delivering real solutions to the issues constituents care about.

From abortion access and climate change, to public safety and MAGA leader Donald Trump’s role in a criminal conspiracy to overturn the 2020 election – those on stage couldn’t seem to agree on anything, except that they all are out of step with the needs and concerns of everyday Wisconsinites and the American public alike.

Amid the in-fighting, the GOP hopefuls didn’t even touch on one of the most pressing concerns of constituents: healthcare affordability.

Meanwhile, the Biden Administration is listening to our concerns and delivering tangible solutions, like signing the Inflation Reduction Act and Bipartisan Infrastructure Law – two historic bills that continue to create jobs, increase wages, lower health care costs, protect the environment, improve our infrastructure, and give us the tools we need to build a good life.

Additionally, Wisconsinites – and the nation as a whole – have made it clear that we overwhelmingly support safe and legal abortion access. While the Biden Administration is working hard to make that happen, the GOP politicians who took the stage in Milwaukee went tit-for-tat on who among them has worked to pass the most regressive anti-abortion bills into law.

There’s really no debate about it, the Republican politicians who took part in the most recent Presidential debate do not represent our values or vision for Wisconsin and local communities nation-wide.

We deserve leaders who will keep building on Biden Administration policy successes that prioritize our concerns and put people over politics.
