MADISON, Wis. – Polls are now closed in Wisconsin and election workers are diligently counting every vote. As Wisconsinites wait for official results, A Better Wisconsin Together is reminding voters that election results take time, and waiting is normal.

“In Wisconsin, our votes are what determine the outcome of our elections – and that means every single vote must be tallied before results are official,” said Chris Walloch, executive director of A Better Wisconsin Together. “Voters have done our job and turned out to have our voices heard, and now our election officials must do theirs and count and certify our votes.”

In recent years, more Wisconsinites have turned to absentee and early voting to ensure their voices are heard in our elections. To make our elections as secure as possible, absentee ballots are subject to a verification process.

“The absentee ballot process is extensive and secure, even though it may take longer than some power hungry politicians would like,” Walloch said. “It’s important for voters and politicians alike to remember that official results may take longer than election night, but all of us have the duty to respect the process and the will of the people.”

By urging patience and giving election officials time to verify and count every ballot, we can ensure that every Wisconsin voter has a chance to weigh on the future of our state.
