MADISON, Wis. — Following a Wisconsin Supreme Court ruling last month that the state’s current GOP-drawn legislative maps are unconstitutional, today marks the deadline for parties in the case to submit map options that meet Wisconsin’s constitutional requirements.

“Wisconsinites should not have to continue suffering under maps that don’t meet constitutional standards, and violate our ability to have a fair say in our elections,” said Chris Walloch, executive director of A Better Wisconsin Together. “Today’s deadline to submit constitutional map options will keep Wisconsin moving forward in replacing the unconstitutional, gerrymandered state legislative districts before the next election.”

Submissions filed with the court today will be analyzed by independent experts, whose analysis will be considered by the Wisconsin Supreme Court as the justices exercise their power to institute maps that are fair, unbiased, and constitutionally sound.
