Disinformation Coordinator

A Better Wisconsin Together (ABWT) is seeking a full time Disinformation Coordinator to help counter disinformation across Wisconsin. The Disinformation Coordinator will assist the Partnerships Director to identify partners—progressive organizations and other allies—and be responsible for coordinating counter-disinfo strategies. The Disinformation Coordinator will help develop a network of partners ready to take on disinformation and will help them formulate effective responses to disinformation as it arises.

The ideal candidate will have excellent relationship-building skills with an ability to work with stakeholders and partners in adapting programmatic objectives as the digital program evolves. They will thrive working in a team environment on priority issues and campaigns. Additionally, they will have experience building both organizing and outreach plans and be able to think strategically on how to scale organizational initiatives.

This position reports to the Research Director and works in collaboration with the ABWT’s research, digital, and communications team members as well as with organizational stakeholders, partners, and consultants.

Start Date: As soon as possible
Salary: $60,000-$70,000

Along with rapid response and earned media, ABWT engages Wisconsinites on issues using paid digital, television, and radio communications.

While this position is currently remote, it will be based in Madison, Wisconsin upon the re-opening of our offices once it is safe to do so. Our in-person office is currently closed due to COVID-19. Additionally, this position may require some evening and weekend hours as needed. We are a small, nimble team working in a fast-paced environment on the frontlines of the fight to advance progressive values and policies in Wisconsin.

Job Responsibilities

  • Create and implement strategic counter-disinformation plans
  • Coordinate counter-disinformation trainings for partner organizations
    • Prepare regular reports and timely updates on data collected
  • Assist in developing narratives and message guidance for use by partner organizations
    • Create structures for reporting state-specific disinformation and responding to it with partners & allies
  • Use social listening tools to monitor disinformation and media conversation about issues in Wisconsin
  • Identify opportunities for advocacy or counter narratives

Qualifications

  • An understanding of traditional communications best practices, media landscape, and narrative development
  • An understanding of research best practices and the ability to apply research findings
  • A working knowledge of social media platforms, practices, and use
  • A strong sense for identifying and capitalizing on emerging trends
  • Comfort working in a flexible, fast-paced, dynamic environment where changes in external factors can create new opportunities and challenges to existing strategies
  • Experience developing insightful, pragmatic, equitable, and sustainable ways to tackle common challenges and produce positive change
  • A demonstrated commitment to disrupting racism and other systemic barriers in the advocacy world

Research Associate

A Better Wisconsin Together (ABWT) is seeking a Research Associate to support an extensive statewide political research program. This is a 6-month project position, with the possibility of extension.

The ideal candidate will be highly detail-oriented, self-motivated and organized, have familiarity with Wisconsin’s government and political climate, and have a passion for progressive politics. This position reports to the Research Director and works in collaboration with ABWT’s research and communications team members.

Start Date: July 2022
Salary: $45,000-$55,000

  • Quickly gather, analyze and summarize legislative voting histories, court records and legal documents, campaign finance data, public government records, and related items;
  • Monitor and track media outlets including radio, television, newsprint, and online outlets;
  • Draft, edit, and collaborate on public-facing research memos, issue briefs and other resources;
  • Other responsibilities as assigned by the Research Director.

Qualifications

We are seeking candidates with a passion for progressive politics who have extraordinary attention to detail and are interested in gathering and analyzing information about current and prospective elected officials, organizations, and current events. They will have strong organizational skills and will thrive working in a team environment on research to inform communications and strategies.

Video Producer

A Better Wisconsin Together (ABWT) is seeking a full-time Video Producer to create high-quality video content and story arcs, and build and maintain online engagement with partners, supporters and other constituencies.

The ideal candidate will have a passion for progressive politics and have extensive experience producing video content at all stages of production. They will be curious about what motivates people to take action and will thrive working in a team environment to support innovative strategies that communicate progressive policy solutions.

This position reports to the Digital Director and works in collaboration with ABWT’s research, digital, and communications team members as well as with organizational stakeholders, partners, and consultants.

Start Date: April 2022

Salary: $70,000-$90,000

A Better Wisconsin Together (ABWT) is seeking a full time Digital Organizer to take a lead role in working with allied organizations and organizers to build a large network of grassroots volunteers across Wisconsin.

The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of hitting goals and metrics and have the ability to build digital content and communications resources, working with consultant teams, and working with a team to define programmatic success.

This position reports to the Partnerships Director and works in collaboration with the ABWT’s research, digital, and communications team members as well as with organizational stakeholders, partners, and consultants.

Start Date: April 2022

Salary: $45,000-$55,000 Annually
