Digital Organizer

A Better Wisconsin Together (ABWT) is seeking a full time Digital Organizer to help drive an innovative organic social media amplification and volunteer skill building program. This role involves working with the ABWT team and partner groups to recruit and develop volunteers to amplify, create, and spread progressive messaging across Wisconsin.

This role will focus on, but not exclusively entail, recruiting and engaging progressives to use their online presence for grassroots advocacy, sharing progressive values, and informing the public about programs and laws that impact their lives. The Digital Organizer will work with allied organizations and organizers to build a large network of grassroots volunteers across Wisconsin.

The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of hitting organizing goals and metrics, and have the ability to recruit and engage volunteers, especially young adults, through digital means. They will also be well versed in the ways under-30 populations engage with social media and social media content online, and how that differs from above-30 populations.

This position reports to the Digital Organizing Director and works collaboratively with members of the Digital Organizing Team to execute our digital program and achieve programmatic goals.

Salary: $45,000-$50,000 Annually

ABWT, a progressive state communications and research hub in Wisconsin, is seeking a Digital Organizer to join our team. We’re an advocacy organization focused on advancing progressive public policy and serving as a center for progressive message development, testing, and communications. This is an exciting position where you will be working with a team to advance progressive values. Along with rapid response and earned media, ABWT engages Wisconsinites on issues using paid digital, television, and radio communications.

This position is largely remote, though there is an option to use existing workspace in Madison, and reporting to a physical workspace may be required on occasion. Additionally, this position may require some evening and weekend hours as needed. We are a small, nimble team working in a fast-paced environment on the frontlines of the fight to advance progressive values and policies in Wisconsin.

Job Responsibilities

  • Recruit individuals via cold calls, texts, emails, and direct messages to join a movement of progressive voices online
  • Consistently meet quantitative goals for volunteer recruitment, engagement, and content sharing
  • Under the direction of the Digital Organizing Director, work to build a large network of grassroots volunteers across Wisconsin
  • Work with the ABWT Digital Organizing Team to develop resources for volunteer use
  • Recruit, train, and support individuals involved in or seeking to join the progressive movement
  • Build teams of volunteers that will amplify and create organic social media content

Qualifications

We are seeking candidates with a passion for relational organizing, relationship building, youth engagement, and progressive politics who have a proven track record of hitting goals and metrics. They will thrive working in a team environment on priority issues and campaigns.

Must be comfortable with “cold call” recruitment, 1:1 volunteer coaching and meetings, and volunteer relationship building. 

You should have:

  • Experience as an organizer in advocacy campaigns— a youth focus is preferred
  • Proficiency in recruiting volunteers via cold calls, texts, emails, and direct messages
  • A proven track record of meeting or exceeding programmatic metrics
  • Demonstrated ability to recruit, train, and retain volunteers
  • An ability to communicate effectively with people of many different backgrounds
  • A strong commitment to working in a close-knit team with a positive, supportive attitude, and the willingness to be flexible and take on additional tasks as needed
  • Experience managing short-term and long-term goals
  • A demonstrated commitment to disrupting racism and other systemic barriers in the advocacy world
  • Experience developing insightful, pragmatic, equitable, and sustainable ways to tackle common challenges and produce positive change

Salary is $45,000-$50,000 annually. Benefits include health, dental and vision insurance.
