MADISON, Wis. — Right-wing Supreme Court candidate and Circuit Court Judge Brad Schimel’s extremism on abortion has hit a new peak as Pro-Life Wisconsin, one of the most extreme anti-abortion groups in the Badger state, is publicly supporting his candidacy. The group’s legislative director recently endorsed Schimel, as reported in a recent news story, and their executive director posted to his X account Monday morning encouraging Wisconsinites to support Schimel. Pro-Life Wisconsin also publicly supported Schimel’s candidacy in their recent winter newsletter.

According to their website, Pro-Life Wisconsin’s agenda includes banning all abortions in Wisconsin with no exceptions for rape, incest, or the life or health of the mother. They also support amending the Wisconsin constitution to, as experts have said, ban IVF and most common forms of birth control.

“As if his radical record of opposing safe and legal abortion care in Wisconsin wasn’t bad enough, Brad Schimel has now proven he’s extreme enough to have earned the support of a group that wants to ban abortion without exceptions for rape, incest, or the life and health of the mother,” said Lucy Ripp, Communications Director at A Better Wisconsin Together. “This makes it exceptionally clear where Schimel stands on abortion rights, and it’s not with Wisconsinites.”

News of the radical group’s support for Schimel comes as the Wisconsin Supreme Court is currently considering a case that could decide whether a law from 1849 bans abortion in Wisconsin with no exceptions for rape or incest.

Notably, Schimel is on the record supporting the 1849 law and its enforcement to ban abortion across the state.

“It’s the duty of our state’s highest court to defend Wisconsinites’ constitutional rights and freedoms. Receiving support from a group that has sought to alter our constitution to take rights away from Wisconsinites certainly calls into question what Schimel’s agenda on the court could entail,” said Ripp.
