MADISON, Wis. — Early this morning, Governor Tony Evers signed the 2025-27 state budget. That Wisconsin now has a budget – after months of state legislative Republicans’ partisan political posturing, infighting, and multiple walkouts on negotiations – is a testament to Gov. Evers’ leadership and his commitment to doing his best to do right by all Wisconsinites.

The following are the statements of A Better Wisconsin Together deputy director Mike Browne:

“That Wisconsin has a state budget at all is a testament to the leadership of Governor Tony Evers.

“That the budget also has measures that will lower some costs for hardworking Wisconsinites, includes an increase in shamefully underfunded special education aid for public schools, averts for the short term a collapse of the child care system, and protects other priorities from devastating cuts is a credit to Gov. Evers listening to us and fighting for what’s best for our kids, our families and our communities.

“In this budget, Gov. Evers and Democrats in the legislature were able to curb the extremism of the Republican legislature that has too often run amok.

“There is no question that there is so much more work to be done. Gov. Evers has shown he will stand up for us and fight to get it done.”
