MADISON, Wis. – As local nurses at Unity Point Health Meriter begin a strike today, A Better Wisconsin Together issued the following statement of support:

“We stand in solidarity with the nearly 1,000 SEIU Meriter Hospital nurses who are standing up for workplace and patient safety, fair wages, and more.

“Just as Wisconsinites deserve care that puts patients first, Wisconsin’s nurses keep our communities safe and healthy, and they deserve the same.

“From fair, living wages and adequately staffed hospitals to workplace and patient safety, Meriter nurses are leading the way – and when those on the frontlines of our healthcare raise the alarm, we must listen.

“Their demands for safe staffing rations and improved safety measures will benefit our entire community, and we stand with them in their fight for safety, dignity, and a contract that puts patients first.”

Wisconsinites can help show support for Meriter’s brave nurses by joining the picket line or donating to their community hardship fund.
