MADISON, Wis. — The following are the statements of A Better Wisconsin Together Executive Director Nicole Safar on the nurse members of SEIU Healthcare Wisconsin efforts to negotiate a fair contract with UnityPoint Health-Meriter Hospital:

“Nurses are some of the heroes among the frontline workers who have been helping our communities come together to pull through the COVID pandemic. They have risked, and in many cases sacrificed, their own lives, to help our friends and our families in their times of need.”

“Now is the time for us to stand with them and show our gratitude with not just words, but actions.”

“We support the efforts of the nurse members of SEIU Healthcare Wisconsin seeking a fair contract. We join with allies across the community in calling on UnityPoint Health-Meriter Hospital to show they value their essential, frontline workers with an agreement that ensures they will have the time to rest, recover and heal, and respects their essential work.”
