MADISON, Wis. – Wisconsinites are now paying over $4,000 more for goods and services under current MAGA policies, plus more than $2,100 per household spent on tariffs alone, according to estimates from the federal Joint Economic Committee and a quarterly report tracking the cost of MAGA tariffs in all 50 states.
A Better Wisconsin Together notes that, according to a recent news report, Republican Congressman and candidate for governor Tom Tiffany has voted in favor of these MAGA policies roughly 100% of the time.
Recent news also indicates Tiffany doesn’t oppose a trade war against Canada, Wisconsin’s biggest trading partner. The Tiffany-backed trade war with Canada could cost up to another $385 per Wisconsin household, according to reports.
Meanwhile, Congressman Tiffany continues to collect his tax-payer funded $174,000 salary after taking a five-week paid vacation from Congress. Tiffany also skipped all three votes on a bill addressing the skyrocketing cost of housing in Wisconsin.
Congressman Tiffany’s frequent absences from work after voting to make life more expensive for his constituents comes as his MAGA billionaire-funded campaign for governor has forced two public debates to be cancelled after refusing to show up.
“Congressman Tiffany shows up to work when it benefits him and his billionaire backers, and then is nowhere to be found when it’s time to actually help his constituents or be held accountable for his actions in a televised debate,” A Better Wisconsin Together said in a statement. “That wouldn’t be acceptable in the average workplace, and Congress should be no exception.”
