Counter-Disinformation Manager
Job Description
Position Overview:
A Better Wisconsin Together (ABWT) is seeking a full-time Counter-Disinformation Manager to help counter right-wing disinformation across Wisconsin. This role involves monitoring right-wing narratives and disinformation, assisting in the development of strategic counter-disinformation initiatives, coordinating with partner organizations, and working with a network of national and statewide progressive partners to tackle disinformation effectively. The ideal candidate will possess strong relationship skills, attention to detail, research background, strategic thinking, and experience in project management.
This position reports to the Research Director and works with ABWT’s research, digital, communications and partnerships staff, as well as external partners and consultants.
Key Responsibilities:
- Monitor right-wing disinformation and media conversations using social listening tools.
- Assist in creating and implementing strategic counter-disinformation plans.
- Develop deep relationships with partners and allied organizations engaging in this work, and work with Partnerships Director to support work with partners related to disinformation.
- Coordinate and conduct counter-disinformation training sessions for partners.
- Compile accurate, well-written reports and provide timely updates on collected data.
- Work with the communications team to develop counter-disinformation narratives and message guidance for partner organizations.

- Passion for progressive politics and a commitment to advancing progressive values.
- Excellent relationship-building skills.
- Ability to manage both short-term and long-term goals effectively.
- Strong communication skills, including report writing and presentation.
- Familiarity with social media platforms and metrics.
- Impeccable attention to detail.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Ability to take in extreme right-wing content on a daily basis.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Familiarity with progressive politics in Wisconsin.
- Experience in political research and identifying/addressing disinformation.
- Understanding of traditional communications best practices and the media landscape.
- Experience working with stakeholders.
- Comfort working flexible hours, including some evenings and weekends.
Location:
This position is currently remote. Occasional travel may be required.

Starting salary of $69,329
