As we celebrate Voter Education Week and inch closer to another important election on November 5, being an educated and prepared voter is more important than ever. The good news is that in Wisconsin, it’s easy to register to become a voter and convenient to exercise your power as a voter.

A great start to putting together your plan to vote is to check out the official myvote.wi.gov website. There you can find information about how to register to vote and how to cast your ballot.

Voters in the Badger State have several different options when planning how and when to cast their ballots. Whether voting early, in person on Election Day, voting by mail, or via dropbox – Wisconsin voters can be rest assured that our elections are safe and secure.

To make sure our elections are as secure as possible, mail-in ballots go through a verification process. Before an absentee ballot is counted, election workers verify a voter signature, a witness signature, and check that the voter has provided appropriate identification with their ballot.

As we await the official election results, it’s important to remember that counting every vote takes time – and waiting is normal. Even though some ballots are cast early, they can’t be counted until election day.

By being patient and giving election officials time to verify and count every ballot, we can ensure that every Wisconsin voter has a chance to weigh in on the future of our state.

Voting in Wisconsin is safe and secure. If you have any questions about how to make sure your voice is heard in the important decisions about our country and our communities, check out myvote.wi.gov or contact your municipal clerk.
