MADISON, Wis. — Less than 48 hours after one of the lowest-viewed State of the Union addresses in recent memory, Vice President JD Vance jetted to Wisconsin in a desperate attempt to sell an increasingly unpopular agenda and play hype-man for his MAGA buddies like U.S. Representatives Derrick Van Orden and Tom Tiffany.

Vance’s visit to Van Orden’s district (Congressional District 3) comes as Wisconsinites are fed up and speaking out after more than a year of being hit hard by national and state Republicans’ reckless policy agenda.

“Amid mounting evidence that the MAGA agenda is wildly unpopular among Wisconsinites, the Trump Administration is growing increasingly desperate to help their MAGA allies in Wisconsin hold onto power,” said Lucy Ripp, a spokesperson for A Better Wisconsin Together. “But unfortunately for Vance, Wisconsinites aren’t buying what he’s selling.”

Recent news reports have shown that local farmers, an economic staple in Wisconsin’s 3rd Congressional District and across the state, are among those most vocal in speaking out against Trump’s agenda, saying the MAGA tariffs have caused uncertainty, instability, and a serious hit to their livelihood.

Increased costs for Wisconsin farmers means increased costs for consumers, too. Research shows that Trump’s terrible tariffs have caused the average family’s expenses to go up by roughly $1,700.

Despite this, Congressman and Trump-endorsed Wisconsin gubernatorial candidate Tom Tiffany has called Trump’s tariffs ‘really good things.’ Van Orden and other Wisconsin Republicans also recently doubled down on their support for Trump’s tariffs.

“If Vance wants to visit Wisconsin, he should bring real solutions to the issues facing our local communities,” said Ripp. “Instead, he brought political theater and a puppet show.”
