OP-ED: Two Years On, Biden-Harris CHIPS Act is Still Delivering for Wisconsin
On August 9, 2022 the Biden-Harris Administration delivered a big win for Wisconsinites when the bipartisan CHIPS and Science Act was officially signed into law. Two years later, the historic bill is still lowering costs, creating jobs, building an economy that works for working people, and strengthening supply chains across our local communities.
Just last month, the CHIPS and Science Act made possible a $49 million investment in Wisconsin’s Tech Hub, which will create more than 100,000 new jobs across the state so that Wisconsin workers have well-paying jobs and the resources they need to support their families.
According to the U.S. Economic Development Administration, Wisconsin’s Tech Hub will establish the Badger State as a global leader in healthcare and medicine to the tune of $9 billion in economic development.
The CHIPS and Science Act is also promoting economic growth across Wisconsin’s rural communities. A billion dollar pilot program included in the bill is helping smaller communities, who are often overlooked and forced to do more with less, apply for economic development funds that can aid in everything from expanding high speed internet access and attracting new businesses to bolster rural Main Streets.
While Republicans are busy sowing division to distract Wisconsinites from their failure to get things done, let’s show some appreciation to the Biden-Harris Administration for delivering real solutions that unite us and address our concerns, like the CHIPS and Science Act.
