MADISON, Wis. — California banker Eric Hovde’s dangerous opposition to Wisconsinites’ reproductive freedom is the issue in a new radio ad from A Better Wisconsin Together. The spot began running today on radio stations across the state. The spot can be heard here.
A Better Wisconsin Together’s Communications Director Lucy Ripp commented, “Eric Hovde has flat out said, in his own words, that he is ‘totally opposed’ to abortion. As Donald Trump and his MAGA enablers in Wisconsin and Washington D.C. gear up to pass dangerous abortion bans, people deserve to know Eric Hovde would join them in voting to take away their reproductive freedoms.”
Hovde’s dangerous extremism on the issue of abortion care includes:
- In his own words, Hovde declared, “I am totally opposed to abortion” and “I’m 100% pro-life”;
- Hovde is on the record saying he supported overturning Roe v. Wade, the U.S. Supreme Court decision that protected abortion rights until it was struck down by MAGA court justices in 2022;
- Hovde has been supported by Wisconsin Right to Life, an extreme anti-abortion group that supports banning abortion, even in cases of rape and incest, and threatening doctors and nurses with criminal charges for providing abortion care.
“Most of us believe we should be able to make our own reproductive decisions, but not California banker Eric Hovde. It’s clear he would support dangerous abortion bans that would take away our freedoms,” she concluded.
