MADISON, Wis. — In response to GOP Senator J.D. Vance’s speech in Eau Claire today, A Better Wisconsin Together Communications Director Lucy Ripp released the following statement:

“After recently admitting on national television to spreading dangerous lies about immigrants in the Midwest as a means to stoke fear and distract and divide our communities, J.D. Vance decided to give a speech in Eau Claire today, a city known for its welcoming nature and vibrant immigrant population of hard workers who make our communities stronger.

“It’s clear that Vance and Donald Trump want to place blame on others to distract from their Project 2025 agenda that would raise prices on Wisconsin families, make it harder for us to afford and find quality healthcare, ban abortions with no exceptions, and strip away hard earned benefits like Social Security and Medicare.

“Wisconsinites see right through Vance and Trump’s lies. We have come together to reject this extreme right-wing agenda in the past, and we will continue holding them accountable for prioritizing the wealthy few over hardworking Wisconsin families.”
