MADISON, Wis. — Today marks 100 days since the Republican majority of the Joint Finance Committee (JFC) first refused Governor Tony Evers’ call to release $140 million in funds to address PFAS water pollution clean up and hospital closures that have left western Wisconsin families stranded for health care access.

“Regardless of zip code, every Wisconsinite deserves affordable, accessible healthcare and clean drinking water,” said Lucy Ripp, Communications Director at A Better Wisconsin Together. “But, due to this purposeful inaction from Republican lawmakers, families across Wisconsin have now gone another 100 days not knowing if they can access a healthcare provider when they need one or if they can trust what comes out of their tap.”

Just weeks after JFC Republicans refused to convene an April 16 meeting called by the governor to release these funds, Gov. Evers called another meeting for May 7, to which Republicans once again refused to take action.

“It’s clear that Republicans’ refusal to address issues facing Wisconsin families isn’t due to lack of opportunities to take action. It’s because they would rather play petty political games and put their own partisan agenda above the well-being of our local communities,” Ripp said.

Call your legislator today at 1-800-362-9472 and demand they not let Wisconsin families go one more day without essentials like clean water and local hospital care. JFC Republicans leading the obstruction include:

  • Sen. Stroebel;
  • Rep. Zimmerman;
  • Sen. Ballweg;
  • Rep. Born;
  • Sen. Wimberger;
  • Rep. Kurtz;
  • Sen. Marklein;
  • Rep. Katsma;
  • Sen. Testin;
  • Rep. Rodriguez;
  • Sen. Felzkowski;
  • Rep. Dallman.
