ICYMI: Rebecca Bradley’s Award-Winning Right-Wing Extremism
MADISON, Wis. — Wisconsin Supreme Court Justice Rebecca Bradley’s right-wing partisan activism has earned her an award from the Federalist Society, an extreme group that seeks to exert dangerous right-wing influence on courts and judicial systems both nationwide and right here in Wisconsin.
Records show that the Milwaukee Chapter of the Federalist Society has chosen Bradley to receive the 2024 Judge Rudolph T. Randa Award, an accolade awarded to individuals who “work on behalf of” the Federalist Society’s “legal principles.”
A look at the Federalist Society’s track record indicates that their core principles include: their co-chairman Leonard Leo pushing right-wing influence onto court elections and judicial appointments and shelling out millions of dollars to the gun lobby; helping overturn Roe v. Wade; arguing against democracy; and cozying up with designated anti-LGBTQ+ hate groups like the Alliance Defending Freedom.
“It’s clear that Justice Rebecca Bradley is receiving this award because the Federalist Society believes she uses her position on court to advance their political and policy agenda instead of working for us,” said Lucy Ripp, Communications Director of A Better Wisconsin Together.
Ripp added that this isn’t the first time Bradley’s close ties to the Federalist Society and overall partisan extremism have risen to the surface. Last year, Bradley swore in leaders of the Republican Women of Waukesha County – and according to her publicly available Statements of Economic Interests (SEI), as of 2023 Rebecca Bradley had received nearly $12,000 from the Federalist Society since joining the Wisconsin Supreme Court.
Bradley is also a past president of the Milwaukee Lawyers Chapter of the Federalist Society, and is a current advisor to the Milwaukee Lawyers Chapter of the Federalist Society.
“Bradley has been a more than willing accomplice to the Federalist Society’s right-wing agenda throughout her career,” Ripp said. “So much so that now she has an award to prove it.”
