Harris-Walz New Path Forward Versus Trump-Vance Dangerous and Divisive Project 2025 on Tap in Vice Presidential Debate

MADISON, Wis. — Tonight, Democratic Vice-Presidential nominee Gov. Tim Walz will take the stage to debate Republican JD Vance, and Wisconsinites will be presented with two vastly different visions for our future.

According to A Better Wisconsin Together Communications Director Lucy Ripp, tonight’s debate will bring to the forefront a stark contrast between the progressive agenda of lifting up working families and expanding our rights and freedoms, and the extreme right-wing Project 2025 agenda that caters to the wealthy few and wants to restrict basic freedoms like voting and reproductive healthcare.

See Ripp’s full statement below:

JD Vance flat out admitted on national television that he has concocted fake stories and spread dangerous lies to stoke fear and divide our communities. The question tonight is not whether Vance will continue to lie, but how far he will take it in desperation to distract the American people from the dangerous Trump-Vance Project 2025 agenda.

“While Tim Walz has spent his career championing issues that matter most to everyday Wisconsinites – like expanding access to affordable health care, protecting abortion rights, and lowering costs for working families – Vance has said he supports a national abortion ban, voted against protecting IVF, wants to take earned benefits like Social Security and Medicare away from hardworking families, and opposed a bill that would protect interracial and same sex marriage equality.

“It’s clear that Vance and Donald Trump want to place blame on others to distract from their Project 2025 agenda that would raise prices on Wisconsin families, make it harder for us to afford and find quality healthcare, ban abortions with no exceptions, and strip away hard earned benefits like Social Security and Medicare.

“We are at a crossroads and have a choice between two very different futures. One, Trump and Vance’s extreme Project 2025 that attacks our freedoms and democracy. The other, Kamala Harris and Walz’s new path forward that builds a future where working families can get ahead, our elections are safe and secure, and everyone’s rights and freedoms are protected.”
