GOP State Lawmakers Join National Right-Wing Push to Take Away Healthcare, Fund Billionaire Tax Cuts

Last night, Republican lawmakers in Washington D.C. voted to slash Medicaid, threatening the healthcare benefits of millions, all to fund a tax cut for billionaires like Elon Musk. Today, Wisconsin’s GOP state legislative leader Robin Vos joined this effort at a press conference opposing efforts to expand affordable healthcare coverage for Wisconsin families.

MADISON, Wis. — Last night, Republican lawmakers in Washington D.C. voted to slash Medicaid, threatening the healthcare benefits of millions, all to fund a tax cut for billionaires like Elon Musk. Today, Wisconsin’s GOP state legislative leader Robin Vos joined this effort at a press conference opposing efforts to expand affordable healthcare coverage for Wisconsin families.

In response, A Better Wisconsin Together Communications Director Lucy Ripp released the following statement:

“Access to quality, affordable healthcare should not depend on your zip code or what’s in your wallet. Everyone deserves to get the medical care they need, when and where they need it.

“Robin Vos is blocking widely supported affordable healthcare, and hiding behind lies and spreading purposely misleading information, so he can distract Wisconsinites from his real goal: to help his mega-wealthy allies get tax cuts and line his own pockets while average Wisconsin families pay the price.

“But Wisconsinites aren’t falling for the distractions. We have the power, and we will not give up our healthcare or take it away from parents, families, and neighbors who need it. Especially not to pay for tax cuts to Elon Musk and other billionaires at the expense of hardworking Wisconsin families.”
