A Better Wisconsin Together Calls on Fake Elector Jim Troupis to be Removed from Judicial Advisory Committee as Felony Charges are Filed Against Him
MADISON, Wis. — After felony forgery charges were filed today against Wisconsin fake elector Jim Troupis and others for their role in illegally trying to overturn the 2020 election results, A Better Wisconsin Together is calling on Wisconsin Supreme Court Chief Justice Annette Ziegler to immediately remove Troupis from his position as a judicial ethics advisor on the Wisconsin Judicial Conduct Advisory Committee.
Troupis was appointed to the Wisconsin Judicial Conduct Advisory Committee with the support of Ziegler and a then-conservative court majority. He was re-appointed in 2023, even after news broke that he was involved in the MAGA faction’s efforts to overturn the results of the 2020 Presidential election in Wisconsin.
“Jim Troupis has disqualified himself from ever holding a place of public trust in Wisconsin. He has time and again schemed to undermine our freedom to choose who governs in our name,” said Mike Browne, deputy director of A Better Wisconsin Together. “That he now has been formally charged at a felony level for his schemes yet continues to advise on judicial ethics in Wisconsin is wholly unacceptable.”
Prior to the felony charges brought today by Attorney General Josh Kaul, the Associated Press (AP) reported in March that Troupis admitted to his central role in filing false paperwork to overturn an election that President Biden overwhelmingly won. According to the AP report, Troupis ‘turned over more than 1,400 pages of documents, emails and text messages, along with photos and video, offering a detailed account of the scheme’s origins in Wisconsin.’
“Troupis should have stepped down or been removed from his seat overseeing judicial ethics months ago when he admitted to his role in the fake elector plot of 2020,” said Browne. “With these new developments, Chief Justice Ziegler has no excuse not to finally do right by Wisconsinites and immediately remove Troupis from his appointment to the Wisconsin Judicial Conduct Advisory Committee.”
