Why is Pat Snyder Standing With GOP Party Bosses to Block Postpartum Healthcare Expansion in Wisconsin?

There May Be Over $1.1 Million Reasons Why …

It is rare these days for politicians of opposing parties to agree on much. So when Wisconsin lawmakers introduced a bipartisan bill to expand postpartum Medicaid coverage for new moms and babies in Wisconsin, it felt like a breath of fresh air.

Wausau-area Republican Rep. Pat Snyder, an author of the bill, said: “If we can’t get something like this done, then I don’t know what I’m doing in the Legislature … ”

After earlier this month voting against this compassionate and common sense proposal he says he supports, for the sixth time, many others are now asking that same question – just what is it that Pat Snyder is doing in the legislature? Because it sure isn’t standing up for new moms in Wisconsin.

Many blame Assembly Speaker Robin Vos for stopping the postpartum health care  expansion from becoming law in Wisconsin, one of only two states in the nation to not offer this level of care. Yet, as powerful as people may believe Robin Vos to be, he is still just one legislator. A bipartisan majority of the state Assembly voting “yes” would send this provision on its way to becoming law.

So, what’s the reason why Republican state representatives won’t stand up to Vos to help new moms? In Pat Snyder’s case, there might be over $1.1 million reasons, as that’s the total amount of direct campaign contributions and spending on his behalf reported by political organizations connected to Robin Vos.

Contact Rep. Snyder today and demand he stand up for new Wisconsin moms, instead of lying down for the party bosses that fund his political campaigns.
