Election Hero

I’ve been a poll worker for about seven to eight years. I think it’s really patriotic to do because our system of democracy is very important, and everyone should have the ability to go in and cast their vote and feel that it’s a safe place for them to go and feel welcomed.

Myself and every poll worker I’ve ever worked with feel an extremely powerful civic duty to do that job. We want to ensure that every American has the sacred right to vote. That’s one of the founding parts of our country that makes us so unusual in the history of the world.

By voting, you’re able to have a voice in our civic discourse of our nation, of our city, of the school board, of the county that you live in. All those different local races, as well as the national races, are all important to vote in.

If there are issues that we want to change in our society, that’s how we have those changes implemented, as we vote.

The more people that are able to vote and have their needs met, the more inclusive and well-rounded our society becomes.
