MADISON, Wis. – On National Senior Citizens Day, A Better Wisconsin Together is calling attention to Eric Hovde’s long record of attacking the rights and freedoms of Wisconsin’s senior citizens.
Below are some of Hovde’s worst takes on policies that impact seniors in Wisconsin:
- Earlier this year, Hovde claimed that most senior citizens shouldn’t vote in our elections;
- On several occasions, Hove has said he supports repealing the Affordable Care Act, a bill that helps senior citizens afford health care and prescription medications;
- Hovde wants to raise the retirement age in Wisconsin, making it harder for our seniors to retire with dignity after years of hard work;
- He also has said he supports gutting Social Security and Medicare, benefits that Wisconsin seniors have earned by paying into for decades.
“From claiming that senior citizens shouldn’t have an equal say in our elections, to wanting to make it harder for seniors to retire comfortably and afford health care, it’s clear California banker Eric Hovde doesn’t respect Wisconsin seniors,” said A Better Wisconsin Together Deputy Director Mike Browne. “Politicians ought to be helping, not hurting, our freedom to vote, and we deserve leaders who support affordable health care and high quality benefits for all of us, regardless of age.”
