MADISON, Wis. – This afternoon, GOP members of the United States Senate – including Sen. Ron Johnson – blocked the Right to Contraception Act, a bill that would protect our right to access contraception without interference from politicians.

In response, A Better Wisconsin Together Communications Director Lucy Ripp released the following statement:

“Wisconsinites have made it clear time and time again that we overwhelmingly agree: the freedom to choose if, when, and how to grow our families is a private decision that politicians have no business making for us. The Right to Contraception Act would have helped safeguard our right to make our own private healthcare decisions.

“Senator Ron Johnson and fellow MAGA Republicans who refused to pass the Right to Contraception Act made a conscious choice today to put their own partisan antics above the will of the people. The Republican efforts to block this bill today are yet another example of their relentless attacks on our reproductive freedoms, and crusade to have a seat in our exam rooms, where politicians don’t belong. Wisconsinites deserve better.”
