A Better Wisconsin Together Asked Wisconsinites How and Why They Plan to Vote Today. Here’s What They Said.
MADISON, Wis. — Today, thousands of Wisconsinites will have their voices heard in a crucial Fall primary election. This year, it’s clear that Wisconsin voters want to see elected officials take real action on the issues that matter most to us – from restoring our right to abortion care, to mitigating rising costs, to curbing senseless gun violence.
With a lot on people’s minds this election cycle, A Better Wisconsin Together (ABWT) asked Wisconsinites how and why they plan to cast a ballot in the Aug. 9 primary. Overwhelmingly, participants told ABWT they do plan to vote – some by mail, others in-person on Election Day.
But just as important as their how, is their why.
“Wisconsinites have made one thing abundantly clear this election cycle,” said Mike Browne, deputy director of A Better Wisconsin Together. “They’re demanding their voices be heard – no matter what.”
Creating a truly representative government, speaking their minds to elected officials, keeping our democracy healthy and free of threats, making their voices heard, and casting a ballot in honor of those who came before them were just a few of voters’ top reasons for showing out to the ballot box in today’s primary election.
Despite attempts from conservative politicians this year to divide us and make the ballot box harder to access, Wisconsin voters are standing together and refusing to be silenced on the issues impacting our local communities.
“It’s an important reminder of our power as voters to make the change we want in our communities,” Browne said.

As one interviewee put it – “your vote matters, your voice matters.”
