According to a summer 2025 statewide poll, over two-thirds of Wisconsinites support legalizing marijuana.
But Republicans in the Wisconsin state legislature keep voting down common sense reforms to legalize marijuana.
Responsible Wisconsin adults don’t have the same options as they do in neighboring states Michigan, Minnesota and Illinois. Our current laws deny adults here the same freedom to choose to use marijuana for medicinal purposes like in 40 other states and the District of Columbia, or for recreational use like in 24 other states and the District of Columbia.
Wisconsin’s outdated marijuana laws aren’t just out of step with other states and public opinion, they are literally costing us money.
A plan by Gov. Tony Evers and Democrats in the state legislature would regulate and tax marijuana, just like we do with alcohol – raising over $160 million every year to help pay for things like schools, roads, public safety, and other community priorities.
