As Wisconsinites, we deserve elected leaders hoping they’ll fight for the things we need: like bringing down rising costs, improving education and making health care more affordable.

But instead of focusing on what matters, Wisconsin Republicans have spent the last three years wasting time and money attacking our freedoms and democracy.

They’ve launched expensive investigations into the 2020 election, threatened illegal impeachments, and made it harder for Wisconsinites to vote.

But in that same time, they’ve made almost no progress on the issues we really care about.

Here are just a few of the ways Wisconsin Republicans have wasted our time and money attacking our democracy to further their own corrupt agenda:

  • Hired Michael Gabelman to investigate the 2020 election, producing no evidence of election fraud but costing taxpayers nearly $2.5 million in the process.[1]
  • Attempting to seize voting machines in Milwaukee and Green Bay.[2]
  • Attempting to illegally impeach Justice Janet Protasiewicz before she even heard a case because of how she might rule on a case involving legislative maps.[3]
  • Spending $1 million to hire lawyers[4] to defend maps that have been called the most gerrymandered in the country.[5]
  • Making it harder to vote for nearly all Wisconsinites, by shortening early voting windows, getting rid of dropboxes, adding extra hoops for college voters, and making it harder to vote by mail.[6]
  • Paying up to $550 an hour to private attorneys to defend a law making it harder to vote by mail.[7]
  • Trying to take over the election process[8] and take away power from state and local election officials.
  • Attempting to illegally impeach and remove the head of the Wisconsin Elections Commission because they were unhappy with the 2020 election.[9]
  • Attempting to overturn the results of the 2020 elections by using fake electors and asking Vice President Pence not to certify the election results.[10]

All of this, while Wisconsin Republicans continue to avoid taking action on issues Wisconsinites really care about–like education, rising costs, health care, child care and public safety:

  • Immediately gaveled out of 5/25/21 special session to expand BadgerCare and invest $1 billion in economic development projects.[11]
