DOUBLE STANDARD
Since the United State Supreme Court struck down the Roe v. Wade decision, abortion care is not just unavailable, but criminalized in most cases in Wisconsin under the terms of a state law passed in 1849.
Doctors and nurses who provide care could be subjected to prosecution for felonies and imprisonedfor years if convicted.
Meanwhile, inequity in our health care system and society mean people of color often suffer worse outcomes.
Wisconsin already has the worst Black infant mortality rate in the nation, and the 1849 abortion ban could lead to worse health outcomes.
