A 51-year-old man has pleaded no contest to reduced charges on accusations he sexually assaulted of (sic) two girls in 1975 when they were 8 and 9 years old. Ned Clesceri of Des Plaines, Ill., entered the pleas Monday in Waukesha County Circuit Court to two counts of indecent behavior with a child, while two counts of sexual intercourse with a child were dismissed. ‘‘That’s not a typographical error,’’ Waukesha County District Attorney Brad Schimel told Reserve Judge Richard Becker as he looked over a criminal complaint. ‘‘We’re here because of something that happened several decades ago.’’ … Sentencing is scheduled for Jan. 7, at which time Clesceri faces prison terms totaling up to 20 years. The plea agreement, however, calls for prosecutors to recommend probation and an order that he undergo therapy.

While his attorney had no comment, prosecutors say the plea is used to avoid being targeted by a civil lawsuit in the future. … Waukesha County District Attorney Brad Schimel said he will ask that Clesceri serve a probationary period rather than jail time.
  • "Man Gets Probation for 1970s Assaults of His Nieces"
A man who sexually assaulted two preteen nieces in the early 1970s was ordered Wednesday to serve eight years on probation for the crimes. Ned Clesceri, 52, pleaded no contest last fall to two counts of indecent behavior with a child. … District Attorney Brad Schimel…said Clesceri deserved some consideration for not taking the case to trial or challenging it in any way. … He made no recommendation for a jail term, saying punishment 30 years after the fact would do less good than the case has by shining the light of truth on the matter. … After the hearing, one of the sisters said she was disappointed that there was no jail time imposed…
